On April, 16, 2021, MPP Randy Hillier a member of Canadian Provincial Parliament and also an elected representative of Progressive Conservative (PC) Party callout for an anti-lockdown protest. Large number of protesters responded positively to that callout. These protesters are claiming themselves as essentials.

On the following day, Doug Ford the Premier of Ontario made an announcement about new restrictions to be imposed immediately as COVID-19 cases are rising in Ontario, Canada at a tremendous rate. Therefore, an extension of additional two weeks of lockdown and home stay order has been imposed on the already existing COVID-19 lockdown. Police task forces have been given special permission to take severe action against anyone who will not follow the home stay order in Ontario, Canada.

The charges can be up to 700 CAD if nonessential people are found in violation of home stay order. Inter-provincial traveling has been restricted. This lockdown will remain in total for six weeks in Ontario.
