Students and youth wings of Left supporting organizations participated in a protest rally, raised their voices demanding education for all, employment for the youths, reject the anti policies of the ruling Government. The police resorted to lathi-charge, firing tear gas and water cannons to disperse the left-wing activists during the demonstration. The protest went violent and many were injured. Later a week after the protest, a supporter passed away as he was brutally injured by the police. A few supporters are still missing since the protest day. 11th February will be a red-letter day in the history of Left supporting youth and student organizations in West Bengal as students were brutally treated by the ruling Govt.

The youth are suffering due to a lack of job opportunities in the state for a long time which forces them to become migrant labours in different states. During the COVID-19 outbreak, West Bengal faced a huge surge in cases as migrant labours returned home from various states which causes the widespread of the virus in the rural parts. Beneath the pandemic, those migrant labours became jobless, their survival became tough, many committed suicides.
